We played the National and were thrilled to see that local hero Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) and mates were playing in a group ahead. The Vale is an impressive facility with two 18-hole courses. The National has USGA standard greens – it’s no pushover, 7433 yards from the back and long from whatever tee you’re used to playing. That makes it one of the longest courses outside the US. The Welsh people are serious about golf!
