Outstanding golf course. Just behind Muirfield in my estimation.
Played in a summer storm, downpour and high winds. The wind was at our back for the first nine - still there were some very long carries needed to reach fairways. Red tees are not more than a few meters ahead on most holes. 'Fun' is not the name of the game here. More like: 'intimidation', 'distance' and 'ominous bunkers that will kill your score'. But it is great to see firsthand what the pros have to do during the Open. Makes them seem superhuman! And of course the greens were beautiful...
Classical links with elevated greens, bunkers are everywhere on the course and very deep. The difficulty is catching the fairways and playing the right club as it's always windy. Lovely club house, great pro shop and really hard greens

Greatness paired with stories
This course is an absolut cracker! Great course layout and beautiful setting! The bunkers and narrow fairways make it a good challenge! Lots of sorrytelling involved in the holes. Greatness in pure form.
