Good and green

This Robert Trent Jones Sr. design in Grez-Doiceau, in Walloon Brabant is one of the best courses in the country. It’s not extremely long, but plenty of elevation changes make for an additional challenge. The par 3 fifth demands a tee shot from the top of a veritable cliff, down to a green with water on three sides. Gulp. There is one pretty silly hole, straight up a steep hillside.

Of course the idea of this golf course was to become an american style golf club, so who would design the course if not Robert Trent Jones. The course itself is beautiful and definitely surprising. I would have never though it would be so hilly! Maintained really really well. I absolutely loved the short par 3 on the front nine, Number 5, short, but really downhill where hitting the green is a must. If not there’s water and trees surrounding the green. The club house gave me a bit of a modern mountain feel with the cimney.

Beau parcours dans un environnement relativement boisé. Le tracé est assez technique et vallonné. L'entretien est soigné et les greens sont de bonne qualité mais plutôt compliqués à maîtriser. La distance au drive ne sera pas un élément déterminant sur ce parcours de distance modeste.
