Sehr sportlich

Sir Nick's track

Lough Erne is a handful and a head full. I played it in the hope that we could be done in four hours walking, but that was not possible with a four ball on a windy day. Some mega-long holes and also a few long walks from green to tee. The quality of the design is pretty obvious, and it's a great and very scenic location. Loved the high holes in the middle. Funny par three finish but beautiful ending holes. First class establishment.
Quickly earning a reputation

Nick Faldo's first design in Ireland. It's situated in a 600 acre peninsula between Lower Lough Erne and Castle Hume Lough. Water is prevalent coming into play on about 12 holes. Accuracy is paramount. It's scoping awards for its resort and the course is likely to follow suit.
Look out for the Unofficial Signature Hole

From the moment you enter through the imposing wrought iron gates you are conscious of being somewhere special. The Faldo course begins with a gentle walk over a long bridge to the first tee and water features on no fewer than 14 holes. Between them, the water and the woods provide all the definition you could possibly want and there's plenty of elevation and loads of visual interest. Don't miss the halfway house which would make a magnificent detached home but is in fact a seafood restaurant. Officially there's no signature hole but, unofficially, the 10th with its near island green would take a lot of beating.
