Player in play

Gary Player's course from the 70s has been in the shadow of the other courses on Kiawah Island. It can't be helped by the clubhouse that comes off as a tiny/temporary solution. There was talk of building a new one when I visited. But his course is a lot of fun in a beautiful setting, with pretty lakes and artful bunkering. It is best experienced walking (though they should change the rules and allow you to use hand trolleys instead of forcing you to carry). Favorite hole is the 5th, with a semi-island green - in the background is marsh and sea.
Amazing flair

One of my favourite golf courses. I played there many times because it was around the corner of Charleston where I studied. Amazing city by the way! The golf courses is very attractive with good opportunities to attack par 5s but also to play more tactical depending on the playing ability. The trees make it a wonderful venue.
