Former Home of the European Open
01.05.2016
Originally intended as England's answer to Augusta National, the East Sussex National has enjoyed, if that's the word, an eventful life. The European Open was played on the more famous East course in 1993 and 1994 and attracted some of the world's greatest golfers including Seve, Faldo, Els and Singh. Over 6400 metres long, it has also hosted five European Challenge Tour events and qualifying rounds for The Open. After such a glorious start, it went into something of a decline but is now being restored to something like its former glory. A lovely undulating course, the hope is that it will one day host another big tournament.
