Cooden Beach is hard to categorise. Although practically on the beach, it's not a links. A seaside course would probably be the best description. It's mostly pretty flat with a lot of water to worry about. You can hear the sea pounding in the background but you rarely get to see it. There are quite a few bunkers and numerous clumps of pampas grass, which are best avoided. Interestingly, Fred Robson, who was the club's first ever pro, played in the inaugural Ryder Cup in Massachusetts in 1927.
