Impressive Kyle Phillips creation

Kyle Phillips designed the Grove before he shook up the world of golf design with Kingsbarns. The Grove has less 'wow' factor but the quality is just as high. The terrain is gently rolling countryside, where the raised greens are pretty targets. Tiger loved the course and said so when he won the WGC here in 2006.

Wide fareways, large greens are only part of the story. Some long par 4s and the undulating fareways test you long irons. Greens are fast and immaculately prepared. Staff are fantastic and helpful. Will definitely return.

You would be hard pressed to find better greens anywhere in the UK. While the layout of holes is quite bland, in my opinion, and you can get away with many errant tee shots as it's quite open, it's the fast, true greens that live longest in the memory. Formerly hosted a WGC event and that's easy to see why.
