Cupp's experiment

Designer Robert Cupp had a radical idea for the early 90s: design a golf course using computer assisted design (CAD). His idea was that the straight computer lines would turn into curves when they were implemented on rolling terrain. But the course builders looked at the drawings and ended up creating pyramid-shaped mounds and straight-lined bunkers. Some critics hated it, but it's still a popular course on Hilton Head Island, a quarter of a century later. Memorable, for sure.
