Pure golf

Historic East Lothian course that is easy to overlook, as it's not your typical links course. It plays like a links, but is not right next to the sea and has some holes that meander through the woods. Several famous architects (Colt, Braid, et al) have made their mark on the design. No par 5s from the men's tees (there are from the ladies, though), but there are quite a few very long par 4s. Nice views to the Firth of Forth. Very friendly, small clubhouse.
A plodder's course

Measures 6200 yards, and features a nice blend of parkland and links. A course designed to reward a player with good strategy - a plodder someone like Luke Donald. A thinking golfer's course. Some risk and reward holes will tempt the big hitters.
