Braid and Hawtree Collaboration
28.04.2016
Although Bognor Regis Golf Club was founded in 1892, the course has moved twice since then and has been where it is now since 1922. James Braid, who won the Open no fewer than five times, designed it and FG Hawtree, whose descendants are still constructing courses, built it. A lovely parkland course, it had an anti-aircraft gun located on it during the Second World War and piles were driven into the fairways to prevent enemy aircraft from landing on it. Thankfully, it has fully recovered and is a wonderfully enjoyable course to play.
