Arcangues is on the 'rota' if you're playing golf in the Biarritz area. The clubhouse (historic grand farmhouse on the ancestral estate of Marquis d'Arcangues) and its terrace with sweeping pastoral views are the best part. The golf is fine, but the fairways can get muddy, as the soil really has too much clay content for exceptional golf. The clubhouse sits on the hilltop, with the two nines descending into the valley. Good exercise!
Pretty but Testing

Set with in 200 acres of gorgeous Basque countryside, the course is delightfully pretty but undoubtedly testing. Within sight of the Pyrenees, it weaves through meadows and around the rolling terrain. Not particularly long, it's principal defence is the tightness of its tree-lined fairways which are effectively narrowed by some fairly severe slopes. The raised greens seemed particularly hard to hit. Look out for the handsome chateau adjacent to the 15th green which was once occupied by the Duke of Wellington, who was not a golfer!

Très beau golf de la côte basque dans un bel environnement boisé. Le tracé est vallonné et varié, mais plutôt très exigeant. Les mises en jeu sont plutôt délicates et les greens bien defendus. Une fois le greens atteint, vous devrez maîtriser les pentes qui sont diaboliques...
